Richmond foraging

Historically speaking, weeds have been identified as any plants you might not want in your yard or garden. much of this goes back to European lawn culture, which has shown to be incredibly detrimental to pollinator health and strong biodiversity.

As it turns out, these plants are wonderful for insects, birds, and general ecosystem health (think about water quality!)

When we remove these plants from our yards and parks, it can have a very harmful impact. Rather than seeing them as bad plants, consider the benefits they might have— including the beautiful flowers many of them produce!

And, hey, who doesn’t like to munch on some dandelion leaves every now and again? Check out this 8.5”x11” risk graph poster printed by Clown Kisses Press right here in Richmond to see all the common forgeable plants in our area!
